Employee Spotlight: Roni Rodman
Congratulations to Roni Rodman on being a valued CL&A employee. You are an outstanding member of our team, and we couldn’t do it without you! We are honored to highlight you in this month’s employee spotlight.

Tell us a little about yourself.
I have been married for 36 years to my husband Ed, an architect and we live in northern Westchester county. We have two grown daughters, one married and one getting married in May. I also have 2 beautiful grandchildren that I love to spoil. I have a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from John Jay College (CUNY). They offered this degree at their satellite campus at West Point. My husband always jokes that I graduated from West Point. Our commencement was at West Point and it was very special.

What is your role at CL&A?
I am Director of Housing for CLA. Our department works closely with the caseworkers to house our veterans in a timely fashion in addition to making sure that all issues concerning a veteran’s housing is being addressed and resolved expeditiously.

What would people never guess you do in your role?
I am not always in the office. I go into the field to accompany veterans to apartment viewings and meetings with landlords and brokers.

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
Marketing our veterans to landlords and brokers in order to secure apartments for them. I feel a great sense of accomplishment when a veteran is approved for an apartment.

How did you first learn about CL&A?
When I was working at SUS on the HUD VASH contract I heard about CLA and knew that they were looking for someone to lead the Housing Department.

What do you like most about CL&A?
Working with people that are passionate about helping veterans. I always tell people that our accomplishments are due to the great staff that we have.

Before working here, what was the most unusual or interesting job you've ever had?
I worked for a short time for a building permit expeditor and had to submit building plans to the NYC Building Department for review. Since I had no background experience in construction, it was real challenge for me.

What kinds of hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?
I spend a large part of my free time volunteering at my synagogue and I am President of a local food pantry. Of course, I love spending time with my family and spoiling my 2 grandchildren, Ayla & Jackson. I also enjoy gardening when spring time rolls around.

What is one thing you couldn’t live without?
Besides my family, my car. Need to make sure I have wheels since I live in the suburbs.

What is your hidden talent?
Good baker and strong swimmer.

What is your biggest pet peeve?
Loud phone conversations on the commuter rail that I take each day to work.

What is your favorite movie and book?
To Kill A Mockingbird and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
