Employee Spotlight: Nicole Clukey
Congratulations to Nicole Clukey on being a valued CL&A employee. You are an outstanding member of our team, and we couldn’t do it without you! We are honored to highlight you in this month’s employee spotlight.

Tell us a little about yourself.
I was born and raised in Maine and remained within the Lincoln/Howland area my whole life. I went to college for Mental Health and Human Service with a minor in addiction. I graduated from the University of Maine at Augusta. For the past 15 years, I was employed in a privately-owned nursing home where I did hands-on care for 6 years. I became their social service director after completing my bachelor’s degree in 2008. I am a very dedicated person to work, friends and family.

What is your role at CL&A?
I am a Quality Assurance Specialist I work with the LA team in reviewing notes and assisting in the billing process.

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy knowing that as a team we are helping veterans everyday with their housing needs. I enjoy working with others amongst my team and learning new aspects of what is done every day.

How did you first learn about CL&A?
I first learned of CL&A in May of 2016 going on a shopping trip with my mom and brother’s girlfriend. She was telling me about this great new company that relocated to Lincoln that her Aunt, Verna Boyington, had told her about. I asked her if she knew of anyone in the field looking for a job. So that is when I immediately sent a message to Verna and in return, she helped me get in touch with Cheryl, a senior QA. The pieces started coming together and now here I am today.

What do you like most about CL&A?
The family atmosphere and professionalism of CL&A is truly a dream come true.

Before working here, what was the most unusual or interesting job you've ever had?
I worked at my parents’ business pumping gas. It was so different from my career. I enjoyed the more laid-back aspects of assisting when my parents needed help at their business (gas station). I would be wearing my high heel boots, jewels and off I would go to pump gasoline.

What kinds of hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?
I love water. If I can be at camp, I am happy, or with my friends and family. I especially enjoy my winery visits and travels to experience different wineries with my Mother and my friend Beth. This is how I relax…

What is one thing you couldn’t live without?
My family is my pride and joy from my dog, Kalee, to my parents, my brother, my niece as well as my significant other and my dear friend Beth. They are my rocks in life and no matter what we all support one another.

What is your hidden talent?
Being a friend to all I meet and being kind to everyone.

What is your biggest pet peeve?
Dishonesty and Disrespect! I have never understood these two things and why people chose to act in such manners. Kindness and honesty are much easier tasks and get you farther in life in my experience.

What is your favorite movie and book?
Annie, this has been my favorite movie since childhood. The remake isn’t the same as the original but as soon as it came out in theaters, my niece, mother and myself went to see it! I enjoyed the movie so much at the end. It was very heartwarming to see Annie get adopted by Daddy Warbucks. I was enjoying the music so much. Maddison, my niece, said “Naunnie, can we go yet?”, I looked around and we were the only people left in the whole theatre.

I also enjoy any Mary Higgins Clark books.
