The people who are featured here represent the best of us. They are an example to everyone around them of the excellence that can be achieved.

Employee Spotlight: Betheny Proctor
Congratulations to Betheny Proctor on being a valued CL&A employee. You are an outstanding member of our team, and we couldn’t do it without you! We are honored to highlight you in this month’s employee spotlight.

Tell us a little about yourself.
I grew up in the small town of Lincoln, Maine and have lived in Maine my whole life. I attended Husson University in Bangor, Maine, where I received my bachelor’s in business management in 2010. I have been married for 6 years and have two amazing sons, Hunter and Hudson. They are my world and keep me very busy!

What is your role at CL&A?
I am a quality assurance specialist on the LA contract. In March 2018 I switched from the NY to LA contract. It has been a busy change and I am still learning! My role at CLA is to work behind the scenes with the Case Managers and Clinical Managers. I review the notes of the Veterans and help with the billing at the end of each month.

What would people never guess you do in your role?
I constantly try to go above and beyond to help the LA Team as much as I can.

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
I like helping the LA team. I like knowing the Veterans are receiving the services as well as housing they deserve. I like team work.

How did you first learn about CL&A?
I first heard of CLA from Verna Boyington who met Carlos and Debbie when they first moved to Maine. Verna and I previously worked in the same office. She told me there was a new business in town and I should check it out. I emailed my resume to Carlos. Dec 1st, 2016 was my first day with the company and I have been blessed and happy ever since.

What do you like most about CL&A?
The family atmosphere and the openness to learning.

Before working here, what was the most unusual or interesting job you've ever had?
I worked in a laboratory for 8 years as a Medical Technologist Assistant at Eastern Maine Medical Center, a hospital. I did specimen processing. I loved the hospital and medical environment.

What kinds of hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?
I love to be outside and enjoy all four seasons of Maine. I enjoy running and when winter rolls around I enjoy snow snowing in the woods. I grew up on the lake as well as live there now. Most weekends in the summer, you will find my family and I in the boat or going to the beach. The water is my therapy for sure.

What is one thing you couldn’t live without?
I couldn’t live without my family or friends. I have two little boys and my husband Travis. Hunter is almost five and just started school this year. And Hudson is three and goes to preschool. As a mom of boys, I have learned to love mud, fishing, dirt, bugs, etc. My parents are local as well as my brother. We spend a lot of time together. I am very blessed to have the people around me that I have. Life is very busy, but I wouldn’t want it any other way.

What is your hidden talent?
A secret talent of mine is I can cut hair. One day, when I was younger, my dad let me cut his hair and I’ve been cutting it ever since.

What is your biggest pet peeve?
One of my biggest pet peeves is clutter. I don't like it! I like things clean and neat.

What is your favorite movie and book?
I can’t narrow it down to just one movie. My top three would have to be National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, The Lion King and The Notebook.

My favorite book that I love to read to my boys is Hattie and Hudson by Chris Van Dusen. It’s written by a Maine author and teaches a lesson about prejudging others.
