Employee Spotlight

Welcome to our employee spotlight page. At CL&A we realize that our success comes from the people that have joined our CL&A family. Without our hardworking and dedicated teams, we would not be where we are today. In an effort to recognize our employees for the exemplary work that they do, we’d like to take a moment and highlight one member, who we believe to be doing an outstanding job. The people who are featured here represent the best of us. They are an example to everyone around them of the excellence that can be achieved.

Employee Spotlight: Benjamin Steinig
Congratulations to Benjamin Steinig on being a valued CL&A employee. You are an outstanding member of our team, and we couldn’t do it without you! We are honored to highlight you in this month’s employee spotlight.

Tell us a little about yourself.
I live with my incredible wife, CJ and sweet baby girl, Addy. We live in Northern New Jersey. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York and New Jersey. As well as an Approved Clinical Supervisor.

What is your role at CL&A?
I am a Clinical Manager for the New York office. I work with 5 incredible case managers.

What would people never guess you do in your role?
I have become the CLA liaison to the US Postal Service. Since the diligent efforts changed in NY, we need to mail certified letters every week to our Veterans that miss their visits. I’ve become the person that mails the letters. It's always fun to see the look on the Postal Workers face when I walk in with a big stack of letters to mail out.

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
I love working with and getting to know the Veterans. Seeing our Veterans succeed makes me very happy. Most recently, I was present when a Veteran discovered he was approved for service connected benefits. He was going to be receiving a check for many thousands of dollars. Seeing his happiness and excitement, makes all the stress of this job worth it.

How did you first learn about CL&A?
Indeed. I did a little Googling and came across the website. Tracey then filled in the blanks.

What do you like most about CL&A?
I love the people I work with in the NY office. We have a lot of big personalities here, and I love working with them! (Cheryl and Rebecca from QA are most definitely included but we only talk by phone)

Before working here, what was the most unusual or interesting job you've ever had?
After finishing college, I took a year off to travel. I ended up in Cape Town, South Africa doing volunteer work with their Jewish Community for six months. I made some great friends there, many that I still speak to regularly.

What kinds of hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?
I love biking, traveling, and going to live music shows. I am also addicted to a long list of podcasts.

What is one thing you couldn’t live without?
My sense of humor. Life would be a lot harder if I couldn’t laugh about it.

What is your hidden talent?
I love storytelling and writing poetry when I have time. My wife would say my hidden talent is scrubbing greasy pots and pans.

What is your biggest pet peeve?
Drivers not letting me switch lanes.

What is your favorite movie and book?
I can’t pick one book, but I am currently reading Going Clear by Lawrence Wright. It's an in-depth look into Scientology, and very interesting. My favorite movie is The Shawshank Redemption.
